World leaders have responded to US President Donald Trump’s universal tariffs on all imports into the United States with retaliatory duties targeting some of the country’s largest trading partners.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described the decision as a “major blow to the world economy” a sentiment echoed by many global leaders.
While some expressed hope for renewed negotiations, others announced countermeasures in an effort to push back against the actions of the global superpower.
